Job Summary
The Vaccinator is responsible for implementing routine immunization services at the health facility and outreach sites according to the national EPI guidelines. The incumbent ensures proper vaccine administration, cold chain maintenance, accurate reporting, and community awareness to improve immunization coverage and reduce vaccine-preventable diseases.
Duties & Responsiblity:
- Administer vaccines to eligible children and women according to the National EPI schedule.
- Ensure safe injection practices and proper waste disposal procedures.
- Screen clients before vaccination and provide health education to caregivers.
- Maintain proper registration of vaccinated clients.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of vaccines and diluents.
- Monitor and record refrigerator temperature twice daily.
- Maintain cold chain equipment in good condition.
- Report any cold chain failure or vaccine damage immediately.
- Maintain accurate EPI registers, tally sheets, and reporting formats.
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly EPI reports on time.
- Track vaccine consumption and wastage rates.
- Ensure proper stock management of vaccines and EPI supplies.
- Participate in outreach and mobile vaccination activities.
- Coordinate with community health workers (CHWs) and local leaders to increase vaccination coverage.
- Conduct awareness sessions regarding immunization benefits and defaulter tracing.
- Follow BPHS, MoPH, and SAFE project policies and procedures.
- Participate in meetings, trainings, and supervision sessions.
- Support other health facility activities when required.
- Maintain confidentiality and respectful behavior toward patients and staff.
Job Requirements
- Graduated from recognized nursing, midwifery, or vaccinator institute.
- Valid vaccinator/nursing certificate approved by relevant authorities.
- At least 1–2 years of relevant experience in EPI or vaccination services preferred.
- Good knowledge of National EPI guidelines and cold chain management.
- Ability to maintain records and reports accurately.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
